Ronna Stuller for City Council

“New London needs intelligent, cooperative action to responsibly achieve the basics of every good city: sound infrastructure, fairer fiscal burden, and equitable neighborhood representation.”

HOW TO PRIORITIZE PUBLIC INVESTMENT

(1) Humbly observe where people struggle.
(2) Ask: What is the next small thing we can do to address that struggle?
(3) Do that thing. Do it right now!
(4) Repeat.

I WILL WORK TO:

Develop a fairer tax code that encourages home improvement, promotes infill development, respects longtime property owners, and protects our city's poorest residents.

Invest in New London’s roads, sidewalks and street trees, in order to improve access, safety, and walkability.

Ensure representation of all residents and neighborhoods are represented in city government by making public meetings more welcoming and introducing participatory practices.

Restore and maintain our city parks to improve the variety and quality of open space and waterfront access in New London.

Enable the Board of Education to establish a non-lapsing fund dedicated to building maintenance.

Preserve our streetscapes by encouraging creative reuse of historic buildings and restoration of old houses for affordable home ownership.

Maximize the utilization of city-owned property for economic, educational, recreational, or ecological benefit.
